IT Department & Behavioral Health -Peer Support

Rhen Geary, ITS, PSS

Hello! I have been with VIP Community Health since the company first opened. I have a dual role at VIP, serving as an IT and Peer Support Specialist. As an IT Specialist, I manage the company’s local network and its IoT. Furthermore, I’m involved in creating the majority of our print and digital marketing materials and getting the opportunity to collaborate directly with outsourced advertising companies. My Information Technology career started around 2006 as a PC Repair Technician. Over time, as I gained experience, I transitioned to networking, digital media, and CCTV Security Systems. Academically, I have experienced a wide variety of certification classes such as A+, Server+, CCNA I & II, and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

I obtained my Adult Peer Support Certification earlier this year and began using it when VIP Community Health LLC opened. Having experienced addiction and all the devastation that it causes, the “solution” was first introduced to me in 2014. Since then, I have learned a tremendous amount about both addiction and recovery. Since both have been a significant part of my life, I had the opportunity to learn and witness both from many different perspectives. Through those experiences, I have found that helping others in what seems to be a small way can create a big difference overall.

Furthermore, those same experiences help me in my own recovery and provide a multitude of opportunities that I never would’ve been presented with otherwise. By sharing those experiences, I can assist with instilling hope, happiness, and stability. Lastly, because of those shared experiences, others get to learn firsthand that we can and do recover.
